PLANO, Texas — The Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA Plano) Lady Lions have cemented their legacy in Texas high school volleyball by winning the 2024 TAPPS 6A State Championship. This victory marks their third consecutive state title, showcasing their dominance and commitment to athletic excellence.

PCA PLANO VOLLEYBALL SECURES STATE TITLE WITH PERFECT PLAYOFF RUN
On November 16, 2024, the PCA Plano volleyball team clinched the TAPPS 6A state title with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Antonian Prep. This championship victory capped off an impressive playoff performance, including a semifinal win against John Paul II High School, also in straight sets.

With a season record of 16-1, the Lady Lions proved they are one of the premier high school volleyball programs in the country.

STAR PLAYER MACARIA SPEARS NAMED GATORADE TEXAS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Leading the charge for PCA was junior outside hitter Macaria Spears, who was recently named the 2024-25 Gatorade Texas Volleyball Player of the Year. Spears played a crucial role in PCA's championship run and was a consistent force on both offense and defense.

Another standout performance came from senior Anya Baklenko, who contributed 9 kills and 6 digs in the championship match, helping seal the Lions’ title victory.

COACH RYAN MITCHELL LEADS TEAM TO CONTINUED SUCCESS
The PCA volleyball program owes much of its continued success to head coach Ryan Mitchell, widely regarded as one of the top high school volleyball coaches in the nation. Under his leadership, the Lady Lions have built a winning culture defined by discipline, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

NATIONAL RANKINGS AND VOLLEYPALOOZA VICTORY
PCA Plano’s accomplishments extended beyond the state level. The team earned national recognition by winning the Volleypalooza tournament in Leander, Texas—one of the most competitive high school volleyball events in the country. This helped PCA Plano earn the No. 1 national ranking, further proving their elite status.

THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR PCA PLANO VOLLEYBALL
With a strong foundation, elite coaching, and talented underclassmen returning, the future of PCA Plano volleyball is brighter than ever. The team’s 2024 state championship victory is more than just a win—it's a statement that PCA Plano is a national volleyball powerhouse.
