Plano, Tx - Prestonwood Christian Academy put together one of its most explosive performances of the season on Friday, October 30, racing past John Paul II 55-14.

After John Paul II opened the game with a touchdown, PCA responded with an offensive surge that quickly turned the game in the Lions’ favor. Prestonwood scored 28 unanswered points in the second quarter before adding another 27 in the third, turning a 7-0 deficit into a commanding 55-14 victory.

The Lions finished the night with 439 total yards, including 213 rushing yards and 226 through the air. PCA also recorded 19 first downs and converted two of five third down attempts while scoring on eight of its nine touchdown drives.

Max Reyes orchestrated the explosive offensive performances, completing 14 of 16 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns while rushing yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

Reyes’ connection with Vance Hernandez proved particularly difficult for the John Paull II defense to contain. Hernandez hauled in five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, including scoring receptions of 30 and 22 yards.

Braden Bixler provided another major spark on the ground, rushing nine times for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Job Palmer added 45 rushing yards on just three carries, including a 16-yard touchdown run that capped the Lions scoring late in the third quarter.

PCA’s rushing attack also received contributions from Austin Gurley, who carried five times for 25 yards, and Matthew Oviedo, who added 19 yards on two carries.

Through the air, Bixler added 59 receiving yards on two catches, including a 38-yard reception. Luke Lineberger caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Isaiah Jabke and Eli Moore contributed 27 and 25 receiving yards, respectively.

The Lions’ defense helped make sure the offensive explosion translated into a decisive victory.

Trevor Vitali led PCA with eight tackles, including three tackles for loss and half a sack. Robby Friedrich added six tackles, three tackles for loss and half a sack, while Eli Trebendis recorded five tackles and two tackles for loss.

Job Palmer also finished with five tackles and a pass breakup, while Evren Roach added four tackles, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hurry. Micah Windingland contributed four tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, and Drew Dzina added an interception to the defensive effort.

The defensive form consistently made life difficult for John Paul II, holding the Cardinals to just 18 rushing yards on 24 carries. PCA also recorded two sacks and limited John Paul II to one of nine on third down attempts.

While John Paul II found some success through the air, finishing with 269 passing yards, PCA’s defense repeatedly created pressure and limited the Cardinal’s ability to sustain drives.

The Lions’ offensive efficiency was on full display throughout the middle portion of the game. After trailing 7-0 following the opening quarter, PCA scored four times in the second quarter, with Reyes accounting for two rushing touchdowns before connecting with Hernandez for two quick touchdown passes.

PCA continued its momentum into their quarter, scoring five more touchdowns to turn the contest into a runaway victory. Bixler opened the quarter with a three-yard touchdown run, then added another score on a five-yard run. Reyes later connected with Lineberger for a 14-yard touchdown before Palmer’s 16-yard touchdown run pushed the Lions past the 50-point mark.

The Lion’s ability to produce explosive plays on both sides of the ball made the difference, and PCA’s defense held John Paul II to just one touchdown after the opening quarter.

With the 55-14 victory, Prestonwood Christian Academy continues to build momentum as the season moves toward its final stretch. The Lions’ combination of a dynamic passing attack, a productive rushing game, and a physical defensive front made for a dominant night.
