PCA Football Brings the Fight in High-Scoring Battle
Prestonwood Christian Academy brought the energy, battled through four quarters, and kept the pressure on until the final whistle Friday night, but the Lions came up just short in a high-scoring road matchup with Legacy Christian, falling 43-39 at Comstock Stadium.
From the opening kickoff, PCA’s offense was clicking. The Lions racked up 515 total yards including 251 rushing yards and 246 passing yards, while finding the end zone six times and piling up 25 first downs.
Quarterback Max Reyes was at the center of the offensive attack, putting together a standout night both on the ground and through the air. Reyes rushed 169 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries, averaging 7.7 yards per carry, while completing 12 of 19 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown.
Braden Bixler added another big piece to the ground game, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. His 38-yard run was one of several explosive plays that helped keep the PCA offense moving.
The Lions also made plenty of noise through the air. Vance Hernandez led PCA with 114 receiving yards on four catches, while Luke Lineberger came up with a huge 70-yard touchdown reception. Cohen McKenna added three catches for 48 yards, with Eli Moore and Isaiah Jabke also contributing receptions.
After entering halftime trailing 16-10, PCA came out with a spark in the second half. The Lions erupted for 15 points in the third quarter and added 14 more in the forth, continuing to answer every time Legacy Christian tried to create separation.
The defensive side of the ball continued to battle, as well. Ian Nunnenkamp led the Lions with 10 total tackles, including even solo stops, a tackle for loss, a sack, a quarterback hurrym and a fumble recovery. Job Palmer added eight tackles, while Drew Dzina finished with six tackles and a tackle for loss.
Robby Friedrich recorded four tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack, while Matthew Mainsfield added a tackle for loss and a sack. Evren Roach and Connor Kidwell each finished with four tackles.
The Lions also created opportunities with two interceptions as Eli Tribendis and Drew Dzina each came away with a pick. As a team, PCA recorded three sacks while continuing to fight through a fast-paced, back-and-forth matchup.
Although the scoreboard didn’t go PCA’s way, the Lions showed plenty of offensive firepower, resilience and fight throughout the night. With 515 total yards and six touchdowns, PCA continued to show what this offense is capable of while the defense created turnovers and made plays to keep the Lions within striking distance.
The Lions will take the lessons from Friday night and turn their attention toward Liberty Christian at Lions Stadium as they continue their 2026 campaign.
