Prestonwood Christian Academy football never stopped fighting Friday night, continuing to battle from start to finish in a high-scoring matchup with Liberty Christian Academy.
The Lions ultimately fell 65-49, but the night featured plenty of explosive offensive moments as PCA piled up 519 total yards, including 364 through the air and 155 on the ground.
After Liberty Christian jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the opening quarter and carried a 41-10 advantage into halftime, PCA came out of the locker room determined to keep battling. The Lions scored 33 points in the second half, including 20 in the fourth quarter, turning in an offensive performance that showcased the team’s ability to keep competing no matter the scoreboard.
Senior quarterback Max Reyes led the way, putting together an impressive all-around performance. Reyes completed 20 out of 27 passes for 364 yards and three touchdowns, completing 74.1% of his attempts. He also added 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, finishing with 484 yards of total offense.
Reyes’ night was especially impactful through the air, where he repeatedly connected with Junior receiver Vance Hernandez for big plays.
Hernandez delivered one of the biggest performances of the night, hauling in nine receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns. His 25.2 yards per reception average provided consistent spark for the PCA offense and helped fuel the Lions’ second-half surge.
The connection between Reyes and Hernandez gave PCA an explosive element throughout the night, with the duo accounting for all three of the Lions’ passing touchdowns.
Senior Luke Lineberger added two receptions for 33 yards, while Sophomore Elijah Moore made four catches for 52 yards. Junior Braden Bixler contributed 49 total yards, including 20 rushing yards for 29 receiving yards, while Senior Isaiah Jabek added 14 yards on the ground.
On the ground, Reyes continued to make an impact, averaging 6 yards per carry while finding the end zone twice. As a team, PCA rushed for 155 yards on 35 carries.
The performance was a reminder of the firepower this PCA offense can bring to the field. With 519 total yards and 43 points against a talented Liberty Christian squad, the Lions showed their ability to create explosive plays and keep attacking until the final whistle.
The Lions will turn the page and carry the lessons learned from Friday night into their next opportunity. PCA will hit the road Friday for a matchup with Trinity Christian Academy at Tom Landry Stadium, looking to build on the fight and momentum from the second half against Liberty Christian.
Trinity Christian enters the matchup 3-3 and is coming off a dominant 55-7 victory over Nolan Catholic on its home turf. The Trojans have also faced Liberty Christian this season falling 47-7 in an earlier matchup. With both teams looking to make their mark as the season continues, the stage is set for another opportunity for the Lions to compete, respond, and continue building toward the finish.
