Prestonwood Christian Academy battled throughout Friday night at Lions Stadium, but Parish Episcopal ultimately pulled away for a 26-15 victory over PCA.

The Lions opened the game with a strong response after Parish struck first, tying the game at 7-7 late in the first quarter. PCA continued to battle on both sides of the ball, creating several opportunities to keep the game within reach before Parish extended its advantage in the second and third quarters.

On the ground, Max Reyes led the way for the PCA offense with 112 rushing yards on 20 carries, averaging 5.6 yards per carry finding the end zone on a 8-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Braden Bixler added 57 yards on 21 carries, while Matthew Oviedo provided a late spark with a 12-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

As a team, PCA rushed for 185 yards on 44 carries and finished with 298 total yards. Reyes also completed four passes for 113 yards, with Cutter Likens connecting on a 57-yard reception to lead the Lions through the air. Isaiah Jabek added two catches for 29 yards, while Eli Moore hauled in a 27-yard reception.

The Lions’ defense continued to make plays throughout the night, forcing multiple turnovers and creating opportunities to swing the momentum. Job Palmer and Jacob Chong led PCA with seven tackles apiece. Chong also recorded a pass breakup and recovered a fumble, while Connor Kidwell added four tackles and intercepted a Parish pass.

Ian Nunnenkamp was active throughout the night with five tackles and two forced fumbles, while Evren Roach recorded five tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack. Lucas Balma contributed four tackles and a pass breakup, and Trevor Vitali added four tackles and a tackle for loss.

PCA’s defense came up with several key plays to keep the Lions within striking distance, including Kidwell’s interception, Chong’s fumble recovery, and Nunnenkamp’s two forced fumbles.

Offensively, the Lions converted 5-of-11 third downs and held the ball for 25:25. PCA also recorded 22 first downs and committed no turnovers on fumbles, continuing to battle for opportunities throughout the contest.

Parish extended its lead to 26-7 early in the fourth quarter, but PCA continued to fight until the final whistle. With just over two minutes remaining, Oviedo capped a late scoring drive with his 12-yard touchdown run, followed by a successful two-point catch from Vance Hernandez to bring the Lions within 11 points.

While the final score went Parish’s way, PCA showed plenty of fight throughout the night, particularly with its defensive ability to force turnovers and its late offensive push. The Lions will look to carry that competitiveness and energy into their next matchup.
