PLANO, TEXAS — The Prestonwood Christian Academy Lady Lions capped off an incredible season with a 54–43 victory over San Antonio Antonian to win the 2025 TAPPS 6A Girls Basketball State Championship — the program’s second title in school history and first since 2014.
The championship game, played at Robinson High School on February 28, featured tough defense, big-time performances from senior leaders, and a dominant fourth-quarter surge that sealed the win.
GAME RECAP AND HIGHLIGHTS
Dominant Fourth Quarter:
Senior guard Mylee Guinn led the charge, pouring in 19 total points, including 11 in the decisive fourth quarter to seal the victory. The Lions outscored Antonian 18–10 in the final frame, clinching their state title.
Consistent Season Performance:
Under the leadership of head coach Elgin Hollins, the Lady Lions dominated the season with a 30–6 overall record and an undefeated 8–0 district run, a true testament to their focus and resilience.
Execution at the Free-Throw Line:
As the clock wound down, Prestonwood maintained their lead with clutch free throw shooting, sinking 9 of 12 attempts in the final 79 seconds.
WHERE OUR SENIORS ARE HEADED NEXT
Prestonwood’s championship roster included a standout senior class whose impact extends far beyond the high school level. Three seniors not only played pivotal roles in winning the 2025 TAPPS 6A State Championship but are now headed to impressive collegiate programs where they'll continue to shine on the court.
Mylee Guinn – Rice University
A dynamic scorer and relentless competitor, Guinn has signed with Rice University, an NCAA Division I program in Houston. She ends her high school career with over 1,500 points and multiple district MVP honors.
Kennedy Price – Cameron University
Known for her defensive grit and versatility, Price will take her talents to Cameron University in Oklahoma. She was instrumental in Prestonwood’s postseason run and earned All-Tournament recognition at the state level.
Allie Swindell – Army West Point
A force in the paint on both ends of the court, Swindell signed with Army West Point. She notched over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career and was named to the TAPPS All-State and All-Tournament teams.
COACH AND TEAM IMPACT
Under Elgin Hollins, the program has prioritized discipline, teamwork, and resilience—attributes that shone bright in halftime adjustments and late-game execution. His leadership helped the Lady Lions dominate both ends of the floor and secure the championship.
